Hammerhead Shark, Cocos Island
During several trips to Cocos Island during his professional career, Kip learned how to view and photograph hammerhead sharks without disturbing them at cleaning stations. This is one of his favorite shots. Sitting motionless for more than 3 minutes, this particular hammerhead came within inches of Kip as the butterfly fish cleaned her body. She near swam right towards Kip as she floated in and out of the cleaning station.
